In times of rising health care cost, Walmart $4 Prescriptions seems like a godsend for many families on low wages. True to its motto of “Everyday Low Prices”, Walmart was the first to launch a unique generic prescriptions pricing plan as part of “its commitment to lower the cost of health care”.

Walmart originally introduced it’s $4 Prescriptions Plan in September 2006. Initially, it had 291 generic varieties of drugs at the very affordable cost of $4 per 30 day supply. Fertility and prescription birth control has also been included at $9, compared to national average prescription prices ranging from $24 to $30 per month, the saving for women is estimated at $15 to $21 per month or $180 to $250 annually.

Prescription drugs have traditionally been very costly even for generic medicine BUT with Walmart $4 prescriptions, everyone can have access to over 360 prescription drugs at only $4 per 30 day supply or $10 for 90 day prescriptions without much expense - it’s less than even a typical co-payment for someone who has health insurance.

As long as you have proper prescription by your doctor, you can choose to either self-collect from the nearest Walmart pharmacy or have them delivered to your home. It’s easy, fast and super convenient.

While drug stores continue to dominate prescription sales, other retailers, including supermarkets and Walmart, have aggressively added pharmacy counters to their stores to take advantage of the growing demand for prescription drugs.
